03:26 PM EDT, 09/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were lower late Wednesday afternoon, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) falling 1.1% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) fractionally lower. In corporate news, Paramount Skydance (PSKY) is set to raise $42.4 billion from investment-grade and high-yield bond offerings to fund its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), Bloomberg reported. Paramount launched a $30 billion US dollar investment-grade bond offering in eight parts on Wednesday, the report said. Paramount shares were up 3.2%.
