  1. Qualcomm locks in multi-gen Amazon AI custom chips
Qualcomm announced a multi-generation partnership with Amazon to build custom silicon for AWS-scale AI data centers and to advance optical interconnects up to 1.6T. Amazon received warrants worth about $4 billion (strike $161.26), vesting against product purchases of up to roughly $60 billion, with revenue slated to start in the December quarter. QCOM closed Tuesday up more than 3%.
šŸŽÆ Beneficiaries: QCOM, AMZN, AVGO; Key catalyst: A handset-chip vendor’s entry into cloud inference supply is now validated — watch order cadence and optical rollout.
  2. Corning wins Verizon multi-year fiber mega-deal; optics rally
Verizon and Corning signed a multi-billion-dollar supply agreement through 2032 for more than 80 million miles of high-density fiber and connectivity, covering both broadband expansion and AI long-haul backbone. Optical names outperformed: LITE +11%+, GLW ~+7.6%, COHR ~+7%.
šŸŽÆ Beneficiaries: GLW, LITE, COHR, CIEN; Key catalyst: Fiber narrative shifts from consumer broadband to AI backbone — watch follow-on carrier and hyperscaler orders.
  3. Chips cushion the tape: Intel price-hike reports, AMD follows
The PHLX Semiconductor Index rose 1.3% Tuesday. Supply-chain reports said Intel plans another ~10% PC CPU price increase from October 5 (a third hike this year) as it prioritizes margins. AMD gained nearly 6% on AI server-CPU demand commentary; INTC closed about +9%. Software names sold off after OpenAI launched GPT-6 Astra.
šŸŽÆ Beneficiaries: INTC, AMD, AVGO; Key catalyst: Compute repricing and server-CPU strength offset oil-driven index pressure — watch for official confirmation of the hike.
  4. Apple ā€œSurprise and Shineā€ event enters the final window
Apple holds its fall launch at 10:00 a.m. PT on Sept. 9 (early Sept. 10 in Tokyo/Beijing), John Ternus’s first event as CEO. The Street widely expects the first book-style foldable iPhone (rumored iPhone Ultra, starting price possibly above $2,000) plus iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max. Hinge, OLED, memory and thermal supply chains enter a verification window. AAPL closed Tuesday about āˆ’1.2%.
šŸŽÆ Beneficiaries: AAPL, MU, QCOM; Key catalyst: Foldable pricing and build guidance will set Apple-chain elasticity; overnight swings should be large.
  5. Bloom Energy confirmed for S&P 500; AI power trade heats up
S&P said BE, ILMN and Everpure (P) will join the S&P 500 before the Sept. 21 open, replacing TAP, TTD and BLDR. Bloom supplies fuel-cell on-site power for data centers; the stock rose about 9.6% Tuesday, and UBS lifted its target to $325. The passive-flow window is open.
šŸŽÆ Beneficiaries: BE, VST, CEG; Key catalyst: Forced buying ahead of the Sept. 21 inclusion, stacked on the AI power-bottleneck trade.
  6. GPU-cloud rental rips higher; Oracle earnings next
With no fresh company-specific release, CoreWeave closed about +11.7% and Nebius nearly +8%, as OpenAI’s new model and peer partnerships were read as another demand check for neoclouds. Oracle reports FY27 Q1 on Sept. 10; focus is cloud-infrastructure guidance.
šŸŽÆ Beneficiaries: CRWV, NBIS, ORCL; Key catalyst: ORCL capex and rental-demand commentary will decide whether the compute-rental premium holds.

Trading note: Flows are rotating from software into hard infrastructure (custom silicon, fiber, power, GPU rental). Brent near $100 and ~60% odds of a Sept. 16 FOMC hike are capping the tape, but semis are relatively resilient. This week’s swing windows: tonight’s Apple event, PPI/CPI around Thursday, and Oracle earnings on Sept. 10.

The ultimate bottleneck for AI is not just electricity, but also the electricity bill! As data centers become a focus in the US elections, AI infrastructure investment faces a "ballot stress test"

In 2026, data center spending, as the backbone of the artificial intelligence industry, will reach a record high. However, alongside the boom in infrastructure construction, opposition to data centers has risen sharply this year. What started as a localized issue has quickly evolved into a key topic for the November midterm elections.

From AI to gold and U.S. Treasury bonds: almost everything is surging to new highs, the market welcomes ā€œEverything Highā€

AI capital expenditure and corporate earnings expectations continue to rise, while energy, gold, US Treasury yields, and market positions are also climbing. On the surface, this suggests a comprehensive increase in growth and risk appetite; however, when inflation, interest rates, and crowded trades are all at high levels, the market's tolerance for the sustainability of the AI boom is also narrowing.

Trump pushes Fed to cut rates, but Waller may go the opposite way: Next week’s meeting faces a ā€œthree-way choiceā€

Bloomberg columnist Claudia Sahm believes that as Trump continues to pressure for rate cuts while inflation remains well above the 2% target, raising rates is becoming an option again, leaving Waller facing a tough decision next week. The Federal Reserve has three paths: raising rates without Waller’s support, which could trigger rare internal divisions; holding steady, which may invite criticism of political interference; or Waller leading a rate hike, which could withstand White House pressure and defend policy independence.
