S&P/TSX Composite Index Higher Mid-Morning Tuesday as Information Technology Shares Shine

10:35 AM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The S&P/TSX Composite Index, which opened in the red Tuesday morning, pared its losses and was up 40 points in mid-morning trade. Shares in the information technology sector were the best performers. The technology sector was last seen up 2%, followed by base metals, which was up 0.4% higher. The telecommunications sector was the worst performers, falling 0.9%. In stocks, Sangoma Technologies (STC.TO) shares jumped 38% to CA$6.98 after it said it was being acquired by Nasdaq-listed BRC Group in a transaction that vales the company at $204 million. In other news Statistics Canada said real gross domestic product was flat month on month in July, in line with its flash estimate. The construction sector advanced for a fourth straight month, rising 1.3% in July. The manufacturing sector fell 0.9% in July, the first decline in four months, the agency noted in its release.
