Apple intensively released new products this week, launching the 24-inch iMac equipped with the M6 chip (starting at 12,499 yuan) and the 14-inch entry-level MacBook Pro (starting at 15,999 yuan), which will officially start shipping on November 6. The M6 chip brings a fivefold improvement in AI performance and a 30% increase in graphics processing speed. In addition, Apple will release its first-ever touchscreen MacBook Pro this Wednesday, featuring an OLED display and a lightweight design.

This week, Apple has been intensively launching new products. Before the debut of the touchscreen MacBook Pro, Apple first released the 24-inch iMac featuring the M6 chip and the 14-inch entry-level MacBook Pro.

Pre-orders for both new models will begin at 1:10 am on October 29, with official shipments starting on November 6. The new iMac starts at 12,499 RMB, and the MacBook Pro starts at 15,999 RMB.

Apple stated that the M6 chip gives the new iMac a fivefold performance boost in AI tasks compared to the previous generation, while the entry-level MacBook Pro achieves a 30% increase in graphics processing speed over its predecessor.

This launch marks the second wave of Apple’s new product push this week, following the company's update to the iPad mini on Monday, which introduced a screen upgrade and waterproof feature. WallstreetNews mentioned that Apple will conclude this week’s product releases on Wednesday by unveiling its first-ever touchscreen MacBook Pro.

M6 Chip as the Core Upgrade, Continues Previous Design

The new iMac and MacBook Pro are visually similar to their predecessors, with the main changes found in internal hardware. Both models are equipped with the M6 chip—which made its debut with the Mac mini in September this year.

In this update, the iMac jumps from the M4 chip directly to the M6, while the MacBook Pro only adopted the M5 chip last year, making this iteration cycle relatively short.

In terms of connectivity, both new devices support Bluetooth 6 and WiFi 7, and the new MacBook Pro also features faster charging speeds.

Apple is still offering high-end MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, both of which surpass this newly launched entry-level M6 model in main processor and graphics core specifications.

On Wednesday, Apple will launch its first-ever MacBook Pro with a touchscreen, ending the company’s more than 20-year resistance to touchscreen laptops.

The new touchscreen MacBook Pro will feature a lighter and thinner design, narrower bezels, and introduce OLED display technology.

Apple Computer Product Line Roadmap Extends to 2028

This wave of updates is part of Apple’s broader product planning.

According to Bloomberg News, in addition to the touchscreen MacBook Pro, Apple also plans to unveil revamped MacBook Neo and MacBook Air models in the first half of next year.

Regarding the chip roadmap, Apple is expected to release the M7, M7 Pro, and M7 Max chips in 2027, accompanied by a newly designed entry-level MacBook Pro; the M7 Ultra chip and a new Mac Studio are scheduled for launch in 2028.

Apple is steadily pushing forward a total overhaul of its computer product line to meet the fast-growing demand for AI applications. These two newly released devices are a milestone in this process—not the final step.
