The five-day World Petroleum Congress began on the 11th at a conference center about 10 kilometers from King Khalid International Airport. Due to four consecutive attacks on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport by Yemen's Houthi forces in the past week, many international energy giants who originally planned to attend withdrew from the conference. BP issued a statement on the same day, saying its representatives were unable to attend due to "disrupted travel." According to the Financial Times, the CEOs of ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies, and Shell also chose to withdraw from the conference. German Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Katrin Reiche, who attended the event, originally planned to return to Germany on the 12th, but was stranded in Riyadh due to her flight being canceled. The German side is currently trying to arrange a return flight for her. (Xinhua News Agency)
