Edgex [EDGE] is in the news today after it fell by 11% in just 24 hours. This fall on the price charts had a lot to do with capital flows in the perpetual market and the significant change in market sentiment.
In fact, at press time, the market sentiment indicator had a reading of 0.00 as investors remained undecided about whether to buy or sell. This seemed to give sellers an advantage.
However, while the price may have dropped, AMBCrypto’s analysis found that some groups of traders might see this as the best time to buy.
EDGEX perpetual market faces capital outflows
The perpetual market has been bearish, with the same linked to capital outflows from EDGE market.
Perpetual Netflows hit -$746,000 as there were more outflows than inflows. When the Netflows are negative in the perpetual market, it means that the market is bearish.
At the time of writing, Open Interest had also dropped by 10.36% to roughly $20.67 million. This implied that roughly $2.39 million in capital left the market within this period.
Now, while capital in the market has been shrinking, the Funding Rate has stayed positive. This implied that traders may still be concentrated on long positions, with the Funding Rate at 0.0049% at press time.
Spot traders continue to accumulate
Spot traders, on the other hand, showed interest in the asset and made bullish bets as they accumulated across the board.
In the last 24 hours alone, as the price dropped, investors bought the asset, with a bulk of their capital flowing into the market. This group of traders spent $1.65 million on EDGE, with Netflows at -$193,000 at the time of writing.
Interestingly, this buying activity has been ongoing for weeks, with Netflows over the past 10 days climbing to around -$561,000.
When buying pressure continues over several days, including when the asset’s price falls, it means that investors are bullish and are likely to hold the asset for longer.
The historical performance chart for EDGE also showed why investors have held on to it, with its year-to-date gains hitting 299%.
Heatmap points to limited downside risk
Finally, the asset’s heatmap analysis revealed that the overall risk of a decline might be minimal. This, because there seemed to be a small cluster of liquidity below the altcoin’s price.
Liquidity clusters tend to pull the price towards them. On the flip side, there was also a pack of these clusters above the price. This implied that the asset may be likely to surge in the near term. This was the likely direction at press time.
Simply put, the altcoin’s market dynamics presented a case for a short-term decline, followed by a broader rally.
Final Summary
- EDGE fell 11% as Perpetual Netflows turned negative and Open Interest dropped by 10.36% to $20.67 million.
- Spot traders continued to accumulate EDGE, while liquidity clusters above the price hinted at potential for a near-term rally.
