Cardano’s $20 Dream Resurfaces While CIP-0113 Goes Live

Cardano’s $20 Dream Resurfaces While CIP-0113 Goes Live

DailyCoinDailyCoin2026/10/09 15:33

Cardano finally has a week where the on-chain numbers, a real product launch, and a big price call all showed up at the same time.

Addresses jumped when the new token standard went live

Santiment checked the data after people at TOKEN2049 started talking about rising activity. Turns out they weren’t just talking.

Daily active addresses hit about 27.5K on October 7 and 27.2K on October 8 — roughly 1.7 times the average September weekday. The timing matches the mainnet launch of CIP-0113, Cardano’s new programmable token standard.

This wasn’t just the whole market moving either. Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses stayed flat or lower on the same days. Price, though, still got hit. ADA’s price slumped around 13% between the October 6 close and October 8.

So the activity is real. Whether it sticks after the launch buzz dies down is the next question.

Veridian becomes the first real equity on the new standard

While that was happening, the Cardano Foundation spun its digital identity project Veridian out as an independent Swiss company and tokenized most of its 1 million shares directly on Cardano using CIP-0113.

It’s the first live equity to use the new standard. That gives the upgrade something more concrete than another testnet announcement.

The big call: $20+ ADA by early 2027

That’s a massive number from here. It would require a full-cycle shift in market cap and narrative. But it’s now sitting on the table next to the actual network data.

What it all adds up to for ADA

You’ve got rising addresses tied to a real upgrade, the first tokenized company shares using that upgrade, and a loud $20 target for next year.

The optimistic read is that Cardano is finally showing usage that matches the long development story. The more careful read is that one strong week and one tokenized company don’t guarantee the trend continues.

For now, the chain activity checks out, Veridian gives CIP-0113 a live example, and the $20 call has given the bulls a clear number to argue about.

BUZZ - Broker Perspectives: Analysts Express Doubts Over Starbucks and Chipotle Acquisition

Latest Update October 9 – The Financial Times reported on Thursday that Starbucks (SBUX.O) has explored a potential acquisition of Chipotle (CMG.N). This move would bring CEO Brian Niccol back to the Mexican burrito chain he once led. Starbucks declined to comment, saying the company remains "fully focused" on its business turnaround. Chipotle's stock fell about 4% to $31.32 on Friday, after surging 6.2% in the previous trading session. Limited strategic rationale BTIG expressed "high skepticism," stating that the deal does not make sense operationally, would cause significant dilution for Starbucks shareholders, and would disrupt management operations. "Over the years we've heard many stories about multi-brand acquisitions... but few have materialized, and even fewer have succeeded," BTIG noted. William Blair pointed out that Starbucks’ $9.4 billion net debt as of June makes it difficult to finance an acquisition and could push the combined company’s leverage ratio to about six times—considered high for the restaurant industry. D.A. Davidson stated the probability of the deal succeeding is 20% or less, given the significant differences between the brands and the apparent lack of clear synergies. Raymond James noted that due to the low overlap in menus, supply chain benefits are likely limited, while performance among multi-brand restaurant platforms has been mixed. eMarketer’s Suzy Davidkhanian commented that Niccol's familiarity may reduce execution risk, but investors might still see the deal as a "costly distraction" during Starbucks’ transformation. BUZZ - JPMorgan upgrades VF Corp to "Neutral," shares rise

On October 9, shares of clothing retailer VF Corp (VFC.N) rose about 3% to $14.90 after JPMorgan upgraded its rating from "Underweight" to "Neutral" while maintaining a price target of $18. The brokerage stated that VF's sales and profit in fiscal 2027 are likely to meet or exceed market consensus, with growth expected to be mainly driven by outdoor brands—The North Face, Timberland, and Altra. JPMorgan also noted that the decline in the Vans brand has been brought under control and that wholesale orders for spring 2027 offer "high visibility" for improved performance in the second half of the year. The company is still expected to achieve an operating profit margin of about 10% in fiscal 2029, driven by more full-price sales, better inventory planning, and a shift towards high-margin brands and premium products. Out of 25 brokerages, 8 have a "buy" or more bullish rating, 15 rate it as "hold," and 2 as "sell;" the median price target is $16, according to data compiled by LSEG.
