06:37 AM EDT, 10/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The most-talked-about stocks in the Reddit subforum Wallstreetbets were mostly declining hours before Thursday's opening bell. Hertz Global Holdings (HTZ) was 1.9% lower in premarket activity, reversing a 0.5% increase from Wednesday's session. Sandisk (SNDK) fell by 1.6% pre-bell, swinging from a 1.9% rise in the previous session. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was down 1.5% premarket, after closing Wednesday with a 0.6% drop. Micron Technology (MU) declined by 1.4% hours before market open, swinging from a 4.1% increase in the previous session. Nvidia (NVDA) fell by 0.8% in premarket hours, following a 0.7% decline Wednesday. SpaceX (SPCX) was 0.2% lower premarket, after closing the previous session with a 2.5% fall. Webull (BULL) was down 0.2% pre-bell, after a 19% fall Wednesday. Bucking the trend, Applied Digital (APLD) rose by 3.4% pre-bell, after a 6% fall from the previous session. The company reported a narrower fiscal Q1 adjusted net loss amid higher revenue year over year.

Cetera Chief Investment Officer Gene Goldman noted on Thursday that there is “a rotation from growth stocks to defensive stocks” in the market, adding that “rising yields and wider credit spreads are putting pressure on AI and growth stocks.” He also pointed out that valuations in the sector are improving. Over the past three months, the sector has underperformed the broader S&P 500, falling 1% versus the benchmark’s 3.9% rise. Among the five S&P sectors that did not decline on Thursday, the Consumer Staples Index posted the second-largest gain, up 1.6%.
