Market Chatter: Tesla Pressures European Regulators Over Full Self-Driving Approval
MT newswire2026/10/07 08:5404:54 AM EDT, 10/07/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) is pushing European regulators to speed approval of its Full Self-Driving technology, using social media and safety research to build support for the driver-assistance system, Reuters reported Wednesday. According to the report, the company has won approval in the Netherlands and seven other EU countries, paving the way for an EU-wide vote. However, traffic-safety researchers who reviewed Tesla's European safety research for Reuters said the data does not support the company's claim that FSD prevents fatal crashes, the report said. Tesla has urged regulators to scale back safety reviews, using social media to encourage supporters to lobby European officials for faster approvals, Reuters added. Tesla did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
