Global Ship Lease Exercises Options to Buid 2 Ships for $163 Million

08:38 AM EDT, 10/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Global Ship Lease (GSL) said Tuesday it has exercised its options to build two additional mid-size, ultra-high-reefer, wide-beam, latest-generation containerships for a total of about $163 million. The company said the ships are slated for delivering in Q4 2029 and that it is in talks with prospective charterers. It also said its newbuilding orderbook is up to 17 ships.
