Market Chatter: Apollo Could Use Aircraft Financing in EasyJet Acquisition
MT newswire2026/10/06 11:4507:45 AM EDT, 10/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Apollo Global Management (APO) is leaning towards using aircraft financing for the 3.5 billion-British pound ($4.64 billion) debt package that will fund its purchase of EasyJet, instead of high-yield bonds, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter. Barclays (BCS), Citibank, Credit Agricole, Standard Chartered Bank and Lloyds Banking Group (LYG) have provided an underwritten bridge financing for the acquisition and were later joined by other banks, the news outlet said. The bridge financing comprises a senior secured note bridge facility of 3.5 billion pounds and a revolving credit facility of 1.3 billion pounds, according to the report. Sources told Bloomberg Apollo could use a combination of aircraft-backed and other financing, and the sale is expected to launch around the end of 2026 or early 2027. Apollo Global Management and EasyJet did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
