Becton Dickinson to Invest $19 Billion in US Under Government Partnership
MT newswire2026/10/06 11:1107:11 AM EDT, 10/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Becton Dickinson (BDX) plans to invest $19 billion in the US over several years as part of a government partnership to expand domestic manufacturing and strengthen medical supply chains, the company said Tuesday. The company plans to allocate $3 billion toward US manufacturing expansion, increasing end-to-end production by about 5 billion essential medical consumables annually and manufacturing 100% of the needles it uses domestically with American-made steel. The investment is expected to raise BD's share of essential medical consumables supplied domestically to roughly 80%. The agreement also provides BD relief from future Section 232 tariffs on covered products and inputs, subject to final scope and implementation of any such tariffs and BD meeting agreed milestones. Becton Dickinson added that it is not yet quantifying the financial impact, as final tariff rates, product scope and timing remain undetermined.
