Smith & Nephew Launches CartiHeal Cartilage Repair Implant in Europe
MT newswire2026/10/06 09:4805:48 AM EDT, 10/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Smith & Nephew's (SNN) CartiHeal Agili-C Cartilage Repair Implant is now commercially available in Europe, following its US launch in 2024 and expanding access to the technology, the company said Tuesday. The aragonite-based implant, designed to repair cartilage, restore bone and relieve pain, will be featured at the International Cartilage Regeneration & Joint Preservation Society Summit in Porto, Portugal, from Oct. 8 to Oct. 10. The company said a recent trial showed the implant delivered higher knee outcome scores than standard care through 60 months, along with better pain relief, quality of life and function. The implant will initially launch across 12 European markets, including the UK, Germany, France and Italy, with additional countries expected to follow, the company added. The company said the implant will be featured at the International Cartilage Regeneration & Joint Preservation Society Summit in Porto, Portugal, from Oct. 8 to Oct. 10. Smith & Nephew shares were up 1.6% in premarket activity.
