On October 6, shares of the U.S. utility company Constellation Energy (CEG.O) rose 3% in pre-market trading to $275.71. Bloomberg, citing informed sources, reported that Google parent company Alphabet (GOOGL.O) is close to reaching a multi-year nuclear energy procurement agreement with the company. The deal is reportedly valued at $1 billion or more, highlighting the tech giant’s growing demand for stable, zero-carbon nuclear power to support artificial intelligence computing—according to Bloomberg News. As it was after regular business hours, Alphabet could not be reached for comment, while CEG declined to comment. Out of 23 brokerage firms, 20 have rated CEG a “buy” or above, and 3 have rated it “hold.” The median target price is $341.62, according to data compiled by London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). As of the previous trading session close, CEG’s share price had declined 24.2% year-to-date, while GOOGL’s share price had risen 10.7%.
