Meta Facing UK Probe Over Instagram Instants' Safety Risks
MT newswire2026/10/06 08:4504:45 AM EDT, 10/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms (META) is facing an investigation in the UK, with Ofcom probing whether the new Instants feature of the company's Instagram social media app violates the country's Online Safety Act, the communications regulator said Tuesday. Instants was launched in May, allowing users to share and view content that disappears after it has been viewed. Ofcom said it is assessing if Meta had carried out enough illegal content risk assessment and children's risk assessment before launching the feature. Meta didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
