According to the latest estimates from Morgan Stanley, Nvidia has secured approximately 37.3% of the global high-bandwidth memory (HBM) supply for 2027. Its long-term supply commitments have surged from $119 billion in the previous quarter to $279 billion (about 1.87 trillion RMB). Nvidia’s supply commitments are not evenly distributed. According to the financial report, around $92 billion will mature during the remainder of fiscal year 2027, $87 billion in fiscal 2028, and $88 billion in fiscal 2029. The cost per GB of HBM4 has jumped from $17–18 during the HBM3e era to $31–32, nearly doubling. Bernstein predicts that HBM4 pricing may further rise to $53 per GB in 2027, and UBS estimates that the average HBM price overall in 2027 will be about 79% higher than in 2026. It should be noted that the production capacity of the three major memory manufacturers has already been fully booked in advance. Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra stated clearly during the October 1 earnings call that the majority of HBM supply in 2027 has already been secured via agreements, and there is currently no sign of a supply-demand balance being restored. Samsung also stated that customers have pre-ordered 2027 demand in advance, and the supply gap is expected to further widen compared to 2026.

Morgan Stanley's latest estimate shows that NVIDIA has secured approximately 37.3% of the global high-bandwidth memory (HBM) supply for 2027, with its long-term supply commitment soaring from $119 billion last quarter to $279 billion (around 1.87 trillion RMB). NVIDIA’s supply commitments are not evenly distributed. According to financial reports, about $92 billion will expire over the remainder of fiscal year 2027, with $87 billion and $88 billion expiring in fiscal years 2028 and 2029, respectively. The cost per GB of HBM4 has jumped from $17–18 in the HBM3e era to $31–32, nearly doubling. Bernstein forecasts HBM4 pricing could climb further to $53 per GB in 2027, and UBS estimates that the average overall HBM price in 2027 will increase by about 79% compared to 2026. It is worth noting that the production capacities of the three major memory manufacturers have already been locked in advance. On the October 1 financial call, Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra clearly stated that most HBM supply for 2027 has been secured with advance agreements, and there is currently no sign of a turning point for supply and demand to return to balance. Samsung also indicated that customers have pre-booked their 2027 requirements, and the supply-demand gap will further widen compared to 2026.

Venezuela's Cardon refinery shut down due to fire, with daily processing capacity of 310,000 barrels

According to eight sources on Tuesday, Venezuela's Cardón refinery, the country's second largest with a daily processing capacity of 310,000 barrels, has suspended operations due to a fire at one of its processing units. Fires, power outages, and blackouts frequently occur at facilities operated by state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), which may affect domestic supplies of essential fuels like gasoline and diesel. Two of the sources indicated that the fire began in a gas pipeline connected to the refinery's diesel hydrotreater, forcing the shutdown of the entire facility, including the boiler. According to informed sources and nearby residents, the blaze was extinguished in less than an hour after an explosion and the evacuation of personnel. No worker injuries have been reported at this time.

Brazil's oil exports reached 11.7 million tons in September, a record high and up 42.2% year-on-year.

According to statistics released by the Brazilian government on Tuesday, the country's oil exports reached a historic peak in September 2024, totaling 11.7 million tonnes. Domestic oil production increased and robust global market demand jointly drove up the export shipping volume for the month. The September export shipment volume has already surpassed the previous monthly record of 11 million tonnes set in March 2023. Compared with the same period last year, oil exports in September rose by 42.2%, and export revenues surged by 77.3%, reaching approximately $6.5 billion. This remarkable export performance was the result of record high Brazilian oil production and rising international market demand. Recent conflicts between the US and Israel and Iran have created pressure on global oil circulation; if shipping through the crucial Strait of Hormuz is disrupted, crude oil prices may soar. Meanwhile, Brazil’s oil production is benefiting from continuous expansion and development of its pre-salt oil fields, particularly the sustained capacity releases from the Buzios and Mero blocks in the Santos Basin, providing a solid supply foundation for export growth.
