Putin Allows UniCredit to Sell Part of Russian Business
MT newswire2026/10/05 23:4407:44 PM EDT, 10/05/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing Italy's UniCredit to sell part of its Russian business, paving the way for the bank to reduce its presence in the country, AFP reported Monday. UniCredit announced in May that it planned to sell part of its Russian subsidiary to a private investor in the United Arab Emirates while retaining part of its payments business in Russia, the report said. The decree authorizes the reorganization of the Russian company and sale of the split-off unit, according to AFP.
