MT newswire2026/10/05 21:0605:06 PM EDT, 10/05/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Equillium (EQ) said Monday it received ethics committee approval and regulatory clearance in Australia for a Phase 1 trial of EQ504, an oral drug it is developing for ulcerative colitis, and expects to begin dosing healthy participants by early November. The company received Human Research Ethics Committee approval and clearance from the Therapeutic Goods Administration under the Clinical Trial Notification scheme. The randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, single-center trial will evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of once-daily oral EQ504 doses ranging from 0.1 mg to 3.0 mg. Equillium said that, subject to supportive Phase 1 data, it expects to start a placebo-controlled proof-of-concept study in patients with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in the second half of 2027.
