According to reports from Zhicheng Finance APP, on Monday, TSMC (TSM.US) saw its share price rise during intraday trading. As of press time, it was up about 1.4% at $479, with a market capitalization of about $2.49 trillion, reaching a new all-time high. In terms of news, media sources reported that TSMC is evaluating a partnership with Terafab, a super wafer fab project in Texas owned by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, to establish advanced end-to-end semiconductor manufacturing capacity in the United States. Musk personally confirmed this information on the social media platform "X". TSMC, however, remained characteristically low-profile and did not make any public response.
Several industry insiders told the media that the two sides have indeed had contact, but they are still "far from signing" and it currently feels more like they are in the "dating stage." The plan envisions TSMC being responsible for developing wafer manufacturing capabilities, while Terafab would provide financial support, equity investment, procurement agreements, and other necessary arrangements to ensure the operation of the new wafer fab's capacity. The specific mode of cooperation between the two parties has not yet been determined.
