Sector Update: Healthcare Stocks Steady Pre-Bell Monday
MT newswire2026/10/05 13:2309:23 AM EDT, 10/05/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Healthcare stocks were steady pre-bell Monday, with the iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) inactive and the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) marginally lower. Vaxcyte (PCVX) shares were up more than 56% after the company said its experimental VAX-31 drug candidate met all pre-specified primary endpoints across age groups studied, compared with Prevnar 20 and/or Capvaxive, in a phase 3 trial of the invasive pneumococcal disease and pneumococcal pneumonia treatment. Alvotech (ALVO) has received US Food and Drug Administration approval for a supplement to the biologics license application for AVT02, marketed as Simlandi in the US, the company said. Alvotech stock was nearly 9% higher premarket. Insmed (INSM) Chief Financial Officer Sara Bonstein is stepping down, the company said. Insmed shares were down more than 2% pre-bell.
