Canadian Lumber Production and Shipments Fall Sharply in July
MT newswire2026/10/05 13:2109:21 AM EDT, 10/05/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Canadian lumber production in July fell 8.6% month-over-month from June to 3,546.4-thousand cubic meters and was down 6.7% from July 2025, Statistics Canada said in a Monday note. Sawmill shipments dropped 10.3% on the month to 3,728.9-thousand cubic meters, down 7.8% annually, Canada's statistical agency said. Last October, the United States imposed a 10% tariff on all Canadian softwood timber and lumber imports, on top of any existing anti-dumping or subsidy duties, according to law firm Blake, Cassels and Graydon LLP.
