Vaxcyte Says Pneumococcal Vaccine Phase 3 Trial Meets Primary Endpoints; Shares Up Pre-Bell

06:45 AM EDT, 10/05/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Vaxcyte's (PCVX) experimental VAX-31 drug candidate met all pre-specified primary endpoints across age groups studied, compared with Prevnar 20 and/or Capvaxive in a phase 3 trial of the invasive pneumococcal disease and pneumococcal pneumonia treatment, the company said Monday. VAX-31 was "well tolerated" and showed safety profile similar to PCV20 and PCV21 at all ages studied. The company expects to report results from two adult phase 3 trials in H1 2027, supporting its planned biologics license application submission to the US Food and Drug Administration in H1 2028, it said. Vaxcyte shares were up 68% in premarket activity.
