MT newswire2026/10/05 10:1506:15 AM EDT, 10/05/2026 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with response from Amazon in the fourth paragraph.) Microsoft's (MSFT) Azure and Amazon's (AMZN) AWS will be brought under the scope of the European Union's Digital Markets Act, Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. The decision remains in draft form and is expected to be issued in November, but could be delayed, the sources told Bloomberg. When designated, AWS and Azure will have six months to comply with obligations including interoperability requirements and restrictions on customer lock-in and self-preferencing, according to the report. A spokesperson for Amazon declined to comment. Microsoft and the European Commission didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
