Exchange-Traded Funds Rise as US Equities Advance After Midday
01:13 PM EDT, 10/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Broad Market Indicators Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV were higher. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) added 1%. US equity indexes rose after a weak September jobs report slashed the odds of a back-to-back monetary policy tightening in October and as crude oil prices fell. Energy IShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) was each up about 0.1%. Technology The State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) gained 1%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) added 1.1%, and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) was 1.2% higher. The State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) advanced 3.9%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) rose 2.5%. Financial The State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) eased 0.1%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) declined 0.3%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), advanced 0.3%. Commodities Crude oil lost 1.6%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) fell 1.9%. Natural gas added 1.4%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) gained 1.8%. Gold on Comex fell 0.6%, and the State Street SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) lost 0.9%. Silver was down 1.4%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) declined 1.4%. Consumer The State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) was fractionally higher, and the Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) rose 0.1%. The State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) added 1.3%. VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) was flat, and the State Street SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) rose 0.2%. Healthcare The State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) lost 0.3%, while iShares US Healthcare (IYH) declined 0.3% and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) shed 0.2%. IShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) fell 0.6%. Industrial The State Street Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) added 0.8%. Vanguard Industrials Index Fund (VIS) rose 1%, and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) gained 0.6%. Cryptocurrency In midday activity, bitcoin (BTC-USD) rose 0.7%. Among cryptocurrency ETFs, ProShares Bitcoin ETF (BITO) added 0.6%, ProShares Ether ETF (EETH) fell 0.2%, and ProShares Bitcoin & Ether Market Cap Weight ETF (BETH) gained 1.3%.
