07:49 AM EDT, 10/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- European bourses tracked moderately higher midday Friday as traders weighed easing bond yields and oil prices, and waded into AI- and semiconductor-related shares. Tech stocks led gains on continental trading floors, while bank shares lagged. The pan-continental Stoxx Europe 600 Index was up 0.8% mid-session. Yields on benchmark 10-year German bonds were lower, near 3.41% in midday trades. Front-month Brent crude-oil futures were down 2.4% at $99.83 a barrel, after media reports of proposed diesel-fuel releases from European and International Energy Agency reserves. Investors also eyed Wall Street futures in the green, but mixed and lower closes overnight on Asian exchanges. In economic news, the Euro area consumer price index rose 3.8% on year last month, up from a 3.2% gain in August, according to flash estimates released by Eurostat Friday. The index, excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, increased 2.5% in September, up from 2.4% the month prior. The Stoxx Europe 600 Technology Index was up 2.6%, but the Stoxx 600 Banks Index lost 0.7% in mid-session trades. The Stoxx Europe 600 Oil and Gas Index rose 0.8%, while the Stoxx 600 Europe Food and Beverage Index inclined 1.2%. The REITE, a European REIT index, rose 0.3%. On the national market indexes, Germany's DAX was up 1.2%, and the FTSE 100 in London gained 0.3%. The CAC 40 in Paris was up 0.7%, and Spain's IBEX 35 lifted 0.3%. The Euro Stoxx 50 volatility index was down 7% at 19.29, indicating marginally below-average volatility for European stock markets in the next 30 days, a positive signal. A reading above 20 indicates choppier markets ahead, while below 20 suggests calmer exchanges.
