Market Chatter: Amazon Mulls Offloading Nvidia's AI Chips Worth $8 Billion

MT newswireMT newswire2026/10/02 08:42
04:42 AM EDT, 10/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com (AMZN) is considering offloading about $8 billion worth of advanced Nvidia (NVDA) chips to external investors to bolster its balance sheet amid increased spending on AI, the Financial Times reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. The tech giant has held discussions with investors about a deal that would allow it to transfer thousands of Nvidia-made Grace Blackwell chips deployed at data centers across the US into a special-purpose vehicle, the media outlet said. Amazon plans to lease these advanced AI chips from the vehicle, which is expected to attract investors through debt issuance, the report added. Amazon plans to offer an equity stake of up to 10% in the vehicle, although discussions remain ongoing and could change, the Financial Times reported. Amazon and Nvidia did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally. Besent “Extinguishes Fire”: Rising US Treasury yields are a global phenomenon, dismisses concerns over AI bubble

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen defended the rise in U.S. Treasury yields, stating that this increase is a global phenomenon rather than unique to the United States, and does not warrant excessive concern. She partially attributed inflationary pressures to higher oil prices caused by the Iran conflict, and expects the energy shock to subside as hostilities ease. Yellen refuted the notion of an AI bubble, arguing that investments by major tech companies are grounded in solid business logic.
