Invesque Shares Rise on Buyout by Major Shareholder Magnetar
Dow Jones2026/10/01 16:17By Adriano Marchese
Shares in real estate investment firm Invesque rose after it agreed to be taken private by its controlling shareholder Magnetar Financial, in a transaction valuing the healthcare real estate firm's publicly traded equity at about $84.1 million.
Shares rose 37% to 13 Canadian cents a share (9 cents).
Under the terms of the arrangement, a special purpose entity managed by asset management firm Magnetar will acquire all of the issued and outstanding common shares in Invesque at 10.1 U.S. cents a share.
The consideration price represents a 68% premium on a spot basis, the company said, and a 30% premium to the volume-weighted average trading price of the shares for the last 20 days ended Sept. 29.
Shares in the company have been under pressure in 2026, falling about 37% since the start of the year to 10 Canadian cents. The shares are down from a 52-week high of C$0.17.
Magnetar owns about 88% of the shares of the company, according to FactSet.
The move follows the launch of a special committee by Invesque to evaluate a potential go-private deal with Magnetar after years of asset sales and debt reductions. The Toronto-listed firm said the buyout offers minority holders an immediate liquidity exit given thin public trading volumes.
