Casella Waste Systems Receives New York Permit for Hakes Landfill Expansion

10:52 AM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Casella Waste Systems (CWST) said Tuesday it received a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation permit to expand its Hakes Construction and Demolition Landfill in Campbell, New York, by about 43.3 acres. The expansion is expected to add about 5.8 million cubic yards of disposal capacity to a landfill currently permitted to accept up to 466,000 tons of C&D material annually. Casella said the expansion, combined with existing permitted airspace, is expected to provide about 20 years of capacity at current run rates.
