Exchange-Traded Funds, Equity Futures Higher Pre-Bell Tuesday as Investors Weigh Tech Rebound

09:11 AM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The broad market exchange-traded fund SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) was up 0.2% and the actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was 0.4% higher in Tuesday's premarket activity as investors weigh rebounding tech stocks. US stock futures were also higher, with S&P 500 Index futures up 0.1%, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures advancing 0.1%, and Nasdaq futures gaining 0.2% before the start of regular trading. The FHFA's measure of home prices rose by 0.3% in July after an unrevised flat reading in the previous month, above the 0.1% gain expected in a survey compiled by Bloomberg as of 7:25 am ET. The Case-Shiller National Home Price index rose by 0.1% in July before seasonal adjustment following a 0.4% increase in June. Consumer confidence data for September and job openings data for August are due at 10 am ET, followed by the Dallas Fed's nonmanufacturing reading for September at 10:30 am ET. Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman, Fed Governor Michael Barr, New York Fed President John Williams, and Fed Governor Christopher Waller are slated to speak on Tuesday. In premarket activity, bitcoin was up by 1.2%. Among cryptocurrency ETFs, the cryptocurrency fund ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO) was 1.3% higher, Ether ETF (EETH) advanced 2.6%, and Bitcoin & Ether Market Cap Weight ETF (BETH) retreated 0.01%. Power Play: Technology The State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) advanced 0.6%, the iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) was 0.5% higher, and the iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) was up 0.8%. Among semiconductor ETFs, the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) was inactive, while the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) rose by 1.2%. Fair Isaac (FICO) shares were down 19% after multiple analysts cut their price targets for the company. Winners and Losers: Health Care The State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) retreated 0.2%, the Vanguard Health Care Index Fund (VHT) was up 0.2%, while the iShares US Healthcare ETF (IYH) was inactive. The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was 0.4% higher. Summit Therapeutics (SMMT) shares were more than 17% higher pre-bell after AstraZeneca (AZN) agreed to invest $2 billion in convertible preferred shares in Summit, along with a nonbinding clinical collaboration focused on ivonescimab and sonesitatug vedotin. AstraZeneca stock was 0.9% higher. Consumer The State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) was down 0.2%, and the Vanguard Consumer Staples Index Fund ETF Shares (VDC) retreated 0.01%. The iShares US Consumer Staples ETF (IYK) was inactive, while the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) lost 0.2%. The VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) and the State Street SPDR S&P Retail ETF (XRT) were inactive. CarMax (KMX) shares were up more than 7% pre-bell after the company reported higher fiscal Q2 net earnings and sales. Energy The iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) was inactive, while the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) was 0.9% lower. Uranium Energy (UEC) stock was up more than 6% before market open after the company reported fiscal Q4 financial results. Financial The State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) advanced 0.3%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was up 0.4%, while its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ), was 0.7% lower. Hamilton Lane (HLNE) shares were down 1% in early-hours activity after the company said that Executive Co-Chairman Mario Giannini will retire effective March 31, 2027. Industrial The State Street Industrial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLI) advanced 0.5%, while the Vanguard Industrials Index Fund (VIS) and the iShares US Industrials ETF (IYJ) were inactive. SpaceX (SPCX) stock was up nearly 1% before the opening bell following a 2.2% decline from Monday's session. Commodities Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell by 1.9% to $90.80 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Natural gas was down 0.03% at $3.11 per 1 million British Thermal Units. The United States Oil Fund (USO) decreased by 2.4%, while the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 0.8% lower. Gold futures for November advanced by 0.5% to $4,187.40 an ounce on the Comex. Silver futures fell by 0.6% to $61.33 an ounce. SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) was down by 0.7%, and the iShares Silver Trust (SLV) gained 0.1%.
