XRP Drops Below $1.50 Floor to $1.49 as Sellers Drag Token 10% Off $1.66 Peak
XRP’s price (XRP-USD) dropped 2.69% in a single hour on Monday to sit near $1.49, marking three days of price falls. The token is down about 10% from last week’s top price of $1.66. This price drop follows a wider market slowdown, with Bitcoin (BTC-USD) falling below $83,000 and Ethereum (ETH-USD) (ETH-USD) sliding under $2,650.
Despite gaining 46% over the past three months, XRP stays down 17.3% for the year 2026. This performance lags behind major peers. The coin sits 58% below its peak high of $3.67 set in July 2025 and 37% beneath its $2.42 price tag from January. Many buyers who bought XRP above $2.75 continue to sell during small price rises to recover their cash.

These ETF purchases help absorb selling pressure from short-term traders. However, heavy token supply limits big price jumps for two main reasons.
First, Ripple unlocks up to 1 billion new XRP tokens every month from locked escrow vaults. At current prices near $1.49 per token, that monthly release adds up to $1.5 billion worth of new XRP supply into the market, giving buyers more coins to choose from and slowing XRP price rises.
Second, with 63 billion XRP tokens currently circulating in the market, every 10-cent price rise requires $6.3 billion in brand new market investment. XRP has a very large token supply, so it takes a lot of new buyer money to move the price up. In comparison, cryptocurrencies with much smaller token supplies, such as Bitcoin with 19.7 million coins or Solana with 470 million coins, need far less cash to jump in price.
XRP Is Trading Above its Core Moving Averages
Chart trends show XRP trading above core moving averages despite the recent dip. Initial safety sits at the 200-day average near $1.37 and the 50-day average at $1.36. Deeper price floors wait at $1.30 and $1.28.
Above current prices, XRP faces price walls at $1.52 and $1.58. Analysts see $1.70 as the key level to break. A monthly close above $1.70 would point toward a 2027 target range between $1.60 and $2.40.
