U.S. Stock Market Movement | Boeing (BA.US) falls 5% due to malfunction in 737 MAX navigation software
On Monday, Boeing (BA.US) fell by 5%, closing at $188.14.
According to information from Zhitong Finance APP, on Monday, Boeing (BA.US) fell 5%, closing at $188.14. News reports indicate that the American company Boeing has stated that some 737 MAX aircraft have a software malfunction that could cause the autopilot navigation system to fail during landing. This issue has attracted the attention of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
It is reported that this previously undisclosed software malfunction stems from a cockpit software update and could increase the burden on pilots, especially during low-altitude flights facing complex conditions such as bad weather. At the end of August, Boeing notified 737 MAX operators that, under specific landing scenarios, pilots might not be able to use the automatic flight guidance function.
Aviation industry insiders stated that this could introduce disruptions to the crew at "the worst possible moment." Boeing emphasized that all pilots have been trained to safely land the aircraft under these circumstances, and the company is working with airlines to develop procedures to reactivate the autopilot navigation function when necessary. Boeing also said its engineers are designing a software fix for the issue.
