Meta Plans Spring 2027 VR Glasses Release, Expands Smart-Glasses Lineup

04:59 AM EDT, 09/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms (META) said Thursday it plans to release its new Meta VR Glasses in spring 2027 for $1,299.99 and expand its artificial intelligence eyewear lineup. The company said it will add Muse artificial intelligence agent capabilities to the glasses in the coming months for hands-free control, and it will expand partnerships with retailers and software companies like Notion and GitHub, with more planned for the future. The upcoming virtual reality headset includes micro-OLED screens and allows users to create multi-panel virtual displays, Meta said. It also features a separate battery and processor unit that can be clipped to a belt, pocket or bag, according to Meta. The company also expects to offer more than 100 styles of smart glasses by the end of the year, it added. Shares of the company were down 1.8% in Thursday premarket activity.
