(1) The UK Maritime Trade Operations Office stated that a vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. (2) The incident occurred at around 4:40 a.m. Beijing time on Monday, with reports indicating no damage or environmental impact. (3) The agency did not immediately disclose the vessel's identity, flag state, or the type of projectile, nor did it identify any responsible party, with related investigations underway. (4) There are currently no immediate reports of casualties, and further details may be released as the investigation progresses. (5) This incident follows a series of maritime security events in and around the Strait of Hormuz. The agency had previously reported vessels being struck by unidentified projectiles, and has called on vessels in the region to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. (6) Affected by escalating regional tensions, the shipping volume through this waterway has dropped sharply. According to reports, only four merchant vessels passed through on Monday, compared to around 125 per day before the conflict. (7) The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important maritime energy corridors, connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. Any prolonged disruption could have broader implications for global oil and gas supply. (8) From a market perspective, the sharp decline in shipping volumes combined with the attack will further strengthen the risk premium for crude oil and natural gas supplies. Going forward, attention should be paid to the findings of the investigation, assignment of responsibility, and whether transit volumes can recover.
