Goldman Sachs interprets Meta (META.US) AI paradigm shift; MuseAI ushers in a new era of intelligent agents
Recently, Meta launched its personal AI agent product, Muse AI, marking the transition of consumer artificial intelligence from Q&A-based chatbots to an era of intelligent agents capable of independently completing real-world tasks. Goldman Sachs released a research report maintaining a “Buy” rating on Meta.
According to Jinse Finance APP, Meta (META.US) has recently launched its personal AI agent product, Muse AI, marking the official transition of consumer artificial intelligence from question-answering chatbots to the era of intelligent agents capable of autonomously completing real-world tasks. Goldman Sachs has released a research report maintaining a “Buy” rating for Meta, setting a 12-month target price at $725, representing an 11.9% upside from the report’s release price of $648.03. The report also analyzes the product’s potential, competitive moat, profit prospects, and potential risks.
“From Dialogue to Action”: Muse AI Reshapes Consumer-Side AI Product Form
Muse AI differs from traditional chatbots by relying on the Muse Spark1.3 model, allowing it to autonomously browse web pages, fill out forms, and complete purchases—establishing a new “dialogue to action” paradigm. It covers high-value personal workflows such as travel bookings, bill negotiation, and administrative tasks. The product connects via app, web, and WhatsApp, following a messaging interaction logic to lower user barriers.
On the commercialization front, Meta is launching its first consumer-side AI tiered subscription model, offering three tiers: free, Powerful at $20/month, and Premium at $100/month. Usage rights are divided by Token quota, with long-term potential for expanding monetization channels like intelligent agent e-commerce transaction fees and advertising. Regarding security, the product uses isolated virtual machines to run tasks, paired with the Sentinel permission control system, adopting WhatsApp’s encryption technology, ensuring data and advertising systems remain separated. However, consumer privacy concerns remain the principal obstacle to large-scale adoption.
Ecological Distribution Builds a Moat; Industry Structure Shifts Toward Platform Concentration
Meta’s greatest advantage comes from the distribution barrier created by its social ecosystem. Leveraging billions of active users across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, and integrating account, payment, and advertising infrastructure, Meta forms a competitive edge that independent AI startups find hard to replicate. The research report judges that Meta will prioritize user scale expansion at this stage rather than rushing commercial returns.
At the industry level, the competitive focus of consumer AI has moved beyond pure model performance, with platform channels and business scenario integration capabilities becoming increasingly critical. Referencing the mobile internet landscape shaped by iOS and Android, the future AI agent market is likely to concentrate around leading platforms, with Meta and Google possessing innate scalability advantages. Meanwhile, unresolved challenges remain: current web pages and apps are not yet adapted for AI agents, with browser simulation and API calls as two main technical approaches, and the industry has not reached a unified consensus.
Heavy AI Investment Suppresses Short-Term Results, Long-Term Prospects for Performance Recovery
Meta is undertaking massive capital expenditures for its AI business. Goldman Sachs predicts the company’s revenue will grow from $200.965 billion in 2025 to $370.837 billion in 2028. However, compute infrastructure investment will suppress profits, and free cash flow may turn negative in 2027, with recovery expected by 2028. As scale effects are realized, EBITDA growth will accelerate, and valuation will digest as performance improves.
Meta still faces several downside risks: intensifying competition in the internet space; antitrust and regulatory scrutiny may restrict mergers and expansion; businesses such as the metaverse and social e-commerce may underdeliver; and if AI capital expenditures suppress profit margins for longer than the market expects, it will equally undermine market confidence.
The Connect Developer Conference in September and the release of a new generation foundation model will serve as important observation windows. Overall, Muse AI is a key initiative for Meta’s integration of AI and consumer scenarios, but currently it’s focused on strategic positioning, and commercial realization will take time. Investors need to balance the dividends of AI technology with the operational pressures brought by heavy investment.
