U.S. stock indexes are lower, facing their third straight session of declines. Oil, bonds and the iPhone are sharing the spotlight.
Here is what's driving markets today
Oil prices keep rising: Brent crude oil surpassed $101 a barrel today, on the heels of new attacks in the Middle East. A U.S.-Iran war that traders hoped would last days or weeks is now in its seventh month, with no end in sight.
Bessent's buyback: Bond yields are rising after the Treasury Department said it would purchase a maximum of $6 billion of bonds in its Thursday buyback operation. The expanded buyback plan has been criticized by some, but Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent isn't worried.
Know when to fold 'em: Apple is expected to unveil its first foldable iPhone at new Chief Executive John Ternus's first big launch event today. Some analysts also predict price increases might be coming, which could keep Apple stock on the move today.
