- Japan plans to replenish its national strategic oil reserves, which were used due to the US-Iran conflict. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has allocated 385 billion yen for crude oil procurement for the fiscal year starting in April next year.
- Japan responded to the crisis by tapping into reserve stocks and turning to alternative supply sources. Before the Middle East conflict, over 90% of Japan's crude oil imports came from the Middle East, making the country highly vulnerable to supply disruptions.
- Following the release of reserves, as of September 6, Japan's strategic oil reserve could meet domestic demand for 103 days, compared to 146 days before the conflict.
