July US Consumer Credit Posts Larger-Than-Expected Increase

03:08 PM EDT, 09/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- US consumer credit use rose by $18.1 billion in July, compared with an $11.67 billion increase expected in a survey compiled by Bloomberg and following a $14.5 billion increase in the previous month. Revolving credit use increased by $2.8 billion in July after rising by $6.7 billion in June, but nonrevolving credit, which includes purchases of vehicles, rose by $15.3 billion after a $7.8 billion increase in the previous month.
