Zcash Price Hits $1,130 as Rally Draws Fresh Short Squeeze Debate

  • Zcash price reaches roughly $1,130 on September 8 after gaining more than 2,300% over the previous year.
  • Ted Pillows reports an $18.8 million leveraged short trading approximately $120 below its liquidation threshold.
  • Grayscale’s ZCSH begins trading on NYSE Arca on August 25, expanding brokerage access to ZEC exposure.

Zcash price reaches roughly $1,130 on September 8, extending annual gains beyond 2,300%. Daily trading volume stands near $3.18 billion, while a large leveraged short draws attention to possible liquidation pressure.

The rally follows Grayscale’s ETF launch and divides market commentators. Crypto Patel points to a bullish chart formation, while F2Pool co-founder Chun Wang questions whether network fundamentals justify the surge.

Zcash price rally draws scrutiny after Grayscale ETF debut

Grayscale launched ZCSH on NYSE Arca on August 25, giving brokerage customers access to spot ZEC exposure. The product follows its earlier trust structure and removes the need for investors to hold tokens directly.

Expanded access provides context for the Zcash price advance, but the launch alone does not establish what drove every gain. Trading turnover also measures market activity rather than growth in private payments.

Wang characterizes the rally as narrative-driven, questioning its connection to actual adoption. His criticism represents an assessment of valuation, rather than proof that the entire advance reflects forced short covering.

Zcash supports both transparent and shielded transactions. Consequently, demand for the token and use of its privacy features measure different activities.

Leveraged short position meets bullish chart interpretation

Meanwhile, Ted Pillows reports an $18.8 million ZEC short using fivefold leverage. At the time of his post, he places the position approximately $120 below liquidation.

A further Zcash price increase could therefore force that trader to close, potentially adding buying pressure. The post does not establish that liquidation has occurred or quantify broader market exposure.

That bullish Zcash price interpretation differs from Wang’s focus on adoption and valuation. The analyst’s quoted post leaves the target unresolved and provides no numerical invalidation level.
