Canada's reciprocal tariffs against the United States take effect on June 8

According to a previous statement released by the Canadian federal government, Canada's reciprocal tariffs on the US will officially take effect on September 8 local time. On August 25, the Canadian federal government announced that it would impose countervailing tariffs on US goods worth 27.6 billion Canadian dollars, approximately 20 billion US dollars, covering sectors such as steel and aluminum, dairy products, household appliances, and agricultural equipment. The Canadian side stated that the total value of US goods affected by these countervailing tariffs is equivalent to the value of goods targeted by the US 50% tariffs on Canadian products, thereby achieving "equivalent and reciprocal" retaliation.
