🔥 Bitget US Stock Spotlight|2026.09.07 Theme: Labor Day market close|AI hardware rips against the tape · Memory / optics / chip tariffs · Apple event countdown image 0

  1. Memory stocks surge as Micron accelerates HBM4
The major averages fell Friday after August nonfarm payrolls printed a stronger-than-expected 162,000, but the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index jumped about 3.4%. SanDisk (SNDK) rose nearly 12% and led the S&P 500, Micron gained 6.1%, SK hynix ADR about 8%, with Seagate and Western Digital also higher. Korean media said Micron plans to lift HBM monthly wafer capacity to about 100,000 by year-end (nearly double last year), with 12-high HBM4 potentially reaching half of output and tied to Nvidia’s Vera Rubin platform.
🎯 Beneficiaries: MU, SNDK, SKHY, STX; Key catalyst: The shortage-plus-HBM4 expansion story already showed up in Friday’s tape — watch for high-level divergence at Tuesday’s reopen.
  2. Nvidia to buy Hugging Face for $12.9 billion
Nvidia on Thursday announced a roughly $12.9 billion deal for open-model platform Hugging Face (including about $1 billion in employee retention equity), targeting a first-half 2027 close. The platform covers 18 million-plus developers and 3 million models. Jensen Huang said it will stay open and will not require Nvidia compute. NVDA rose only 0.8% Friday, but the deal reinforces the “compute + ecosystem” narrative and lifted chip sentiment.
🎯 Beneficiaries: NVDA, AMD, INTC; Key catalyst: Deal details and antitrust review — watch whether ecosystem control converts into lasting compute demand.
  3. Optics and interconnect hardware take the AI-infra baton
Flows rotated from software into the physical layer: Astera Labs up about 10%, Coherent about 6.6%, Corning about 5.7%, Lumentum about 4%, Marvell more than 7%. The trade is shifting from “just buy GPUs” to high-speed optical interconnect, fiber/copper, and rack-level connectivity. Software ETFs weakened Friday versus SOX.
🎯 Beneficiaries: ALAB, COHR, GLW, LITE, MRVL; Key catalyst: Data-center interconnect orders and capex diffusion — watch whether optics premiums hold on Tuesday.
  4. Chip-tariff framework in play; Intel repriced on the “build in America” story
Commerce Secretary Lutnick this week framed semiconductor tariffs as “build here, don’t pay; don’t build here, pay to access the U.S. market,” citing about $1.2 trillion in pledged U.S. chip investment and TSMC Arizona expansion on the order of $265 billion. Intel rose 4.51% Friday; AMD about 4.7%.
🎯 Beneficiaries: INTC, TSM, MU; Key catalyst: Tariff specifics plus Taiwan’s reported extra $20–30 billion U.S. investment window — policy tape stacked on fundamentals.
  5. Apple “Surprise and Shine” countdown
The official event is Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET. The market is pricing iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max and Apple’s first foldable (rumored iPhone Ultra, inner display about 7.6–7.8 inches, price potentially above $2,000). Optics, hinge, thermal, and on-device AI chip supply-chain expectations are rising. AAPL fell 2.51% Friday — typical pre-event profit-taking.
🎯 Beneficiaries: AAPL, QCOM, GLW; Key catalyst: Sept. 9 event will validate foldable specs, pricing, and supply-chain guidance; event-window volatility should expand.

Trading note: U.S. cash equities are closed today for Labor Day. Next regular session is Tuesday, Sept. 8. Friday’s tape already rotated from software into AI hardware (memory, equipment, optics). Strong payrolls tightened rate-hike pricing and cap index beta. On Tuesday, first watch post-holiday liquidity and whether crowded hardware names fade, then position into Wednesday’s Apple event.
