A recent post by crypto commentator X Finance Bull has spotlighted remarks from Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse regarding cryptocurrency regulation, the company’s ongoing legal engagement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and support for the CLARITY Act.
Ripple CEO urges US crypto clarity, highlights 75 global licenses
Ripple’s approach to regulation
During an address at the third annual Wyoming Blockchain Symposium, Garlinghouse rejected the notion that the cryptocurrency sector opposes regulatory oversight. He stated the industry’s reputation for avoiding regulation contradicts its actual efforts to achieve a consistent regulatory framework.
Garlinghouse cited Ripple’s significant global progress, noting the company has secured 75 licenses worldwide. He emphasized that Ripple prefers to work within established regulatory environments, rather than seek ways around them.
Ripple does not seek to avoid oversight, but instead, pushes for transparent regulatory guidelines to foster growth within the industry. This outlook is evident in its global licensing footprint and ongoing outreach to lawmakers.
X Finance Bull underlined this position, linking Ripple’s strategy to a broader push across the United States for clearer rules governing the cryptocurrency industry.
Focus on the CLARITY Act
Garlinghouse addressed Ripple’s multi-year legal conflict with the SEC and explained the company’s continued endorsement of the CLARITY Act, despite a significant court victory regarding XRP’s classification.
A US federal court previously ruled that XRP is not a security, providing legal clarity for the asset itself. Garlinghouse described this decision as a crucial milestone for Ripple and XRP holders.
“In order for the industry to succeed in the United States, we need clarity for the whole industry. Ripple has leaned in aggressively to support the CLARITY Act,” Garlinghouse said.
He clarified, however, that Ripple’s efforts are focused on solutions that could benefit the wider digital asset sector, not just its own operations or XRP investors.
The CLARITY Act has been designed to establish comprehensive and consistent standards for cryptocurrency companies operating in the United States.
Mini dictionary: CLARITY Act, a proposed US bill aiming to provide a clear legal framework for classifying digital assets, distinguishing between securities and commodities, and clarifying the regulatory roles of agencies like the SEC and CFTC. The Act is supported by several crypto industry advocates seeking federal legislative guidance.
Prospects for US crypto regulation
Garlinghouse also mentioned that he attended presentations by Tim Scott and Patrick Witt at the symposium, where they discussed the proposed legislation’s chances in Congress and possible future developments for crypto regulation in the US.
X Finance Bull weighed in on the discussion, suggesting that Ripple’s advocacy is not about rejecting oversight, but rather ensuring that policy reform extends beyond XRP to the entire industry.
Online reactions echoed this focus, with some users applauding Garlinghouse for seeking long-term regulatory solutions, and others emphasizing the need for clear rules so the crypto sector can scale without legal uncertainty.
For Ripple and Garlinghouse, the central question remains whether comprehensive regulation—and not only isolated legal victories—can provide the foundation US crypto businesses need to operate with confidence and spur broader adoption.
