Dutch central bank secretly repatriates gold — What did it see?
On a certain day in March 2026, a batch of gold left the underground vault of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. There was no press conference, no parliamentary notification, and no public record. At the same time, on the London Bullion Market, a large-scale gold purchase was quietly completed.
The connection between these two events would not be known to the public until six months later.
On the morning of September 2, Dutch Finance Minister Heinen confidentially informed the Dutch House of Representatives. A few hours later, De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) issued a highly restrained press release: Over the past six months, the bank had transferred approximately 86 tons of gold from New York and Ottawa to London, involving assets worth more than 10 billion euros. The reason was summed up in four words—"crisis preparation".
