Wyoming expands Chainlink partnership with onchain reserve verification for FRNT

The state of Wyoming is expanding its use of Chainlink to provide near-real-time, onchain verification of the reserves backing its Frontier Stable Token (FRNT), the state’s official stable token.

The state joined a growing list of firms that made the switch, with $15 billion in onchain value having migrated from LayerZero to CCIP.

Wyoming already exceeds the transparency requirements established by the GENIUS Act, but said Chainlink Proof of Reserve will provide more continuous visibility by combining independent examinations with automated, onchain verification of FRNT's reserves.

"Wyoming has consistently led the nation in advancing responsible digital asset innovation," Anthony Apollo, Executive Director of the Wyoming Stable Token Commission, said in a statement. "By adopting Chainlink Proof of Reserve as Wyoming’s exclusive onchain asset verification infrastructure, we're providing transparent, verifiable confirmation that the Frontier Stable Token is fully backed by high-quality reserve assets. This strengthens trust in FRNT while establishing the highest standard for transparency in public-sector digital assets."

Under the system, The Network Firm will examine FRNT’s reserves and token supply under AICPA standards, while Chainlink Proof of Reserve will make verified reserve data available onchain in near real time. Wyoming said the combination is intended to reduce information gaps between reporting periods and give regulators, institutions and market participants greater assurance that FRNT remains fully backed.

The Commission is also in the process of adopting Chainlink Proof of Reserve Secure Mint. This would require verified reserves to equal or exceed FRNT’s total supply before new tokens can be minted. The feature is designed to help prevent infinite-mint attacks and provide cryptographic assurance that newly issued tokens are backed by reserves.

FRNT went live in January as the first stable token issued by a U.S. state. The token is backed by U.S. dollars and short-term U.S. Treasuries, with income from the reserves helping diversify Wyoming’s state revenues and support its School Foundation Program.
