Pundit Says XRP Holders Need to Hear This Now
A guest on The Paul Barron Show raised a question that has followed XRP for years. He cannot reconcile the token’s current price with the volume of partnerships Ripple has secured since 2018. Crypto Enthusiast Rose posted the clip on X.
The guest told Paul Barron he does not have a specific worry about the XRP ecosystem. He instead described a pattern that troubles him. “I kind of feel like the prices might have been suppressed for a while,” he said.
He pointed to XRP’s 2017 run, when the price passed $3 with what he called “almost no integration.” He contrasted that with today’s landscape, where Ripple has added partnerships, integrations and acquisitions, yet the price sits near $1.
Barron asked him to clarify his position. He said he does not know if suppression involves bad actors or reflects a deliberate strategy. “It could be just strategic,” he said. He suggested Ripple may be waiting to activate payment corridors until infrastructure for central bank digital currencies reaches a certain stage. He said liquidity needs to be in place before those corridors go live.
Roadmap and Timing Take Center Stage
Barron reframed the comments as a question of execution. He suggested the market may react once several conditions align. He listed a cooperative Federal Reserve, a possible interest rate cut, and the passage of the CLARITY Act as examples.
The guest responded that he does not believe all of those factors are necessary. He said his uncertainty runs deeper. He does not know whether Ripple’s plans depend on the XRP Ledger itself. He raised the possibility that XRP could eventually get pegged to gold.
He linked that idea to discussions around a new global reserve system. He referenced what he called a “digital Bretton Woods” or “Bretton Woods 3.” He explained that the original 1944 Bretton Woods agreement created a global reserve currency backed by gold. He noted that former Federal Reserve nominee Judy Shelton has voiced support for gold-backed monetary policy and has spoken about distributed ledger technology in that context.
The guest said this leaves him without a firm answer. He asked whether Ripple’s strategy depends on activating existing systems or on a mechanism tied to gold, potentially involving nations that participate in the Bank for International Settlements.
Gold Accumulation Adds Context
Barron responded by noting that nation-states have been accumulating gold at what he described as one of the highest rates on record.
The exchange did not produce a conclusion. The guest acknowledged the limits of his own certainty throughout the conversation. He repeated that he cannot offer a strong opinion on Ripple’s timeline or method, given how many variables remain unclear to him, from regulatory developments to XRP Ledger’s role in any future settlement structure.
