US Dollar Index rises on the 1st

The US Dollar Index, which measures the performance of the US dollar against six major currencies, rose by 0.25% on the day and closed at 99.677 in late forex trading. By the close of trading in New York, 1 euro could be exchanged for 1.1590 US dollars, down from 1.1616 US dollars the previous trading day; 1 pound sterling was equivalent to 1.3514 US dollars, lower than 1.3550 US dollars the previous trading day. Meanwhile, 1 US dollar could be exchanged for 160.20 Japanese yen, up from 159.80 yen the previous trading day; 1 US dollar was worth 0.8118 Swiss francs, an increase from 0.8083 Swiss francs the previous day; 1 US dollar exchanged for 1.3894 Canadian dollars, higher than 1.3855 Canadian dollars previously; and 1 US dollar exchanged for 9.6188 Swedish kronor, also higher than 9.5767 Swedish kronor the day before. Overall, the US dollar strengthened against the above major developed economy currencies on the day, while non-US currencies generally experienced a slight depreciation against the dollar.
