Aya Gold & Silver is set to buy a portfolio of exploration permits near its flagship silver mine in Morocco.
The Montreal-based miner on Tuesday said that it has agreed to acquire a 139-square-kilometer portfolio of permits, which includes a 19-kilometer mining license near its Zgounder silver mine.
Aya said the acquisition is expected to further consolidate its land position in the Zgounder district and provide exposure to an underexplored copper-silver system with what it defines as having significant exploration potential.
The company said the total cost is 4 million Canadian dollars ($2.9 million), and said the acquisition represents a low-cost opportunity to expand its existing Moroccan operating footprint.
