04:29 PM EDT, 08/31/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Planet Labs' (PL) Tanager-2 satellite and the 18 SuperDove satellites of Flock 4J have arrived at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California ahead of launch on SpaceX's (SPCX) Transporter-18 rideshare mission, the company said late Monday. Tanager-2 is designed to double Planet Labs' hyperspectral capacity and halve revisit times for methane detection under its project with Carbon Mapper, the company said. Planet Labs said it plans to build and deploy at least three additional Tanager satellites following Tanager-2. The 18 SuperDove satellites will supplement PlanetScope, Planet's daily global monitoring constellation, the company said.
