MBX Biosciences Doses First Patient in Late-Stage Canvuparatide Trial in Hypoparathyroidism

08:37 AM EDT, 08/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- MBX Biosciences (MBX) has dosed the first patient in a late-stage registrational trial evaluating once-weekly canvuparatide in adults with chronic hypoparathyroidism, the company said Thursday. The global trial is expected to enroll about 160 patients who will be randomized 3:1 to receive canvuparatide or placebo during a 26-week double-blind treatment period, followed by a 78-week open-label extension, MBX Biosciences said. The primary endpoint will assess the proportion of patients maintaining normal serum calcium levels, discontinuing active vitamin D, reducing calcium supplementation and avoiding an increase in the canvuparatide dose, the company said.
