(1) South Korean President Lee Jae-myung stated at a government large-scale project review meeting on Monday that South Korea is seeking to usher in a new "golden age" of national growth by establishing regional high-tech industrial ecosystems. He emphasized that the next 12 months are a crucial period and urged officials to accelerate implementation to ensure that the benefits of growth extend beyond the capital area.(2) Lee Jae-myung specifically pointed out that the planned Honam semiconductor cluster should develop at a pace equal to or exceeding that of the Kumamoto technology center in Japan. To speed up construction, he instructed the Ministry of National Defense to temporarily relocate operations at the Gwangju military airport to other airports by mid-2028, removing obstacles for the early construction of the chip complex.
