Bitcoin traded near $64,110, down 1.72% over the past 24 hours, while Ethereum held around $1,860, down 0.78% daily. XRP traded near $1.09, Solana slipped to $74.23, and Hyperliquid’s HYPE token eased to $57.41.

Total crypto market capitalization stood at $2.19 trillion, down 1.24% over the past day. The Fear & Greed Index read 35, back in “fear” territory, while the Altcoin Season Index climbed to 55, reflecting cautious sentiment as investors reduced risk across the market.

DeXe led trending searches with a sharp 152.7% surge over 24 hours, followed by Lorenzo Protocol, up 23.2%. The scale of DeXe’s move highlights how speculative flows remain concentrated in smaller-cap tokens even as broader market sentiment turned cautious.

Bitcoin spot ETFs recorded $240 million in net outflows, led by BlackRock’s IBIT at $212 million and Fidelity’s FBTC at $27.9 million. Ethereum spot ETFs saw their five-day inflow streak end with $70.6 million in net outflows, again led by BlackRock’s ETHA at $52.8 million, while Grayscale’s Ethereum Mini Trust bucked the trend with a $9.9 million inflow. HYPE spot ETFs posted a smaller $6.9 million outflow, entirely from Bitwise’s BHYP.

Coinbase is undergoing its largest executive shake-up in recent years. Chief People Officer Lawrence Brock is stepping down to an advisory role, institutional group co-head Greg Tusar is moving into policy, Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal plans to resign, and Base head Jesse Pollak has already stepped down.

The changes follow May’s roughly 14% workforce reduction as the company accelerates its shift toward a “full-category exchange” spanning crypto, stocks, and prediction markets.

Galaxy Research head Alex Thorn lowered his estimate for the Clarity Act passing in 2026 to about 30%, citing insufficient Senate votes and a narrowing legislative window. Multiple crypto trade groups pushed the Senate to begin voting procedures despite the bill still falling short of the 60-vote threshold, with Democratic senators including Angela Alsobrooks and Mark Warner saying ethics and anti-money-laundering provisions remain inadequate. Fidelity separately urged the Senate to pass the bill, calling clear rules essential to US leadership in digital assets.

Stablecoin payment infrastructure provider Triple-A had its hot wallet compromised, with more than $9.3 million stolen and bridged to Ethereum. Cross-chain protocol Across published a post-mortem on a July 17 exploit involving forged Solana deposit events, confirming a net loss below $4 million after most of the roughly $41.7 million in fake deposits were invalidated.

Samsung Electronics confirmed plans to add stablecoin support to Samsung Wallet, extending its payments and rewards platform into digital assets. Nvidia announced a $1 billion investment in South Korea’s Naver to expand AI data center capacity, alongside a separate agreement with SK Group to build a 2-gigawatt AI data center cluster. BlackRock transferred roughly 3,126 BTC worth about $203 million from its IBIT wallet to Coinbase Prime, while Capital Group increased its stake in Bitcoin treasury company Strive by $5.52 million.

The EU adopted its 21st sanctions package against Russia, for the first time targeting the A7 cross-border payment network and its A7A5 stablecoin, along with 14 unnamed crypto platforms across five countries.

The Federal Reserve's most closely watched inflation indicator—the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index—unexpectedly stabilized in July. The second estimate of the U.S. second-quarter GDP, released on the same day, maintained an annualized growth rate of 1.5%, but both consumer spending and business investment were revised upward from the initial figures. However, actual consumer spending in July was flat month-over-month, indicating that the economy cooled after strong growth earlier in the summer.
